Room Addition Help

When people are in the remodeling phase, there are a few things to consider. Making sure what direction you want to go, what kind of layout do you want/need for your home, who you need to hire. Those are the basics of first phase of remodeling. Here are tips on how to gather information you need for remodeling.

1. Get Ideas
Getting ideas of what you want for your remodeling is the first step. Gather pictures from magazines and watch ton of remodeling shows on TV. Also write down what you want and what you need. Keeping this list helps when you are in the design process. Along with these ideas, our sales team can also help you with design ideas that will work for you house.

2. Design the Floor Plan
Normally, a room addition requires a building permit from city, so hiring a professional architect is a good option you should consider. If you don’t have an architect, CRS can recommend one for you. At this stage, you would make sure you have called CRS so we can continue to help you with your ideas. It is a wise idea to have the CRS work with your architect so that we can collaborate ideas. When discussing plans with both architect and CRS, you should give us your list of wants and needs. We can tell you what is more practical, by design and cost. This way, we know what direction you want to go and what you can compromise.

After you have a plan drawn out, it is best to keep it unchanged. Any changes you make after the plan is submitted to the city will cause more delay in the permit process. So, be sure to do your research and have many meetings with both CRS and architect prior to submission.

When you are in need of a reliable contractor who has a long record of successful room addition and remodeling project, CRS can help. CRS has been in buiness since 1993. With our experience in managing and ability to execute any size project, we can assure you that we can assist you with your remodeling projects.

Setting a Remodeling Budget You Can Stick To

What is the difference between a budget and a cost estimate? Your budget is the amount of money that you are comfortable spending on this remodel. A cost estimate is the value of all of the materials and labor that will have to go into the project in order for the work to be completed by a contractor. It’s your designer’s job to make these two numbers match up by the time the construction drawings are completed, even if they were far apart when you began dreaming.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE AREA YOU’RE REMODELING?

Think about what percent of your time you spend in the rooms you’re going to work on. If you spend 20% of your waking hours in your kitchen because you love to entertain, then it will be important to you that this workspace allows you to operate efficiently and the intangible or happiness return will be more important than increasing the market value of the home.
